Exam Pattern Overview
The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) Platoon Commander Exam 2025 is conducted in three stages to select candidates for 84 vacancies in the Home Defence Department of Rajasthan. The selection process includes:
- Written Examination (Offline OMR-based)
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Interview

Paper Structure
The RSSB Platoon Commander Written Examination consists of two papers, each carrying 200 marks with a duration of 3 hours. The exam is objective-type (multiple-choice questions) with negative marking for incorrect answers.

Marking Scheme
- Correct Answer: +1.33 marks (each question carries equal marks)
- Incorrect Answer: -0.33 marks (1/3 negative marking)

1. Written Examination
The written exam is the first stage of the selection process. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in each paper and in aggregate to proceed to the next stage.

2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who qualify the written exam must undergo PMT and PET, which carry 100 marks (minimum qualifying marks: 50).

3. Interview
- Marks: 50
- Eligibility: Candidates who qualify the PET (score ≥50 marks) and are 3 times the number of vacancies are called for the interview.
- Final Selection: Candidates must secure 45% aggregate marks (written exam + PET + interview) to be considered for final selection.
- Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates may be considered for selection if they score 12.5% in the interview and 40% in aggregate, provided they are deemed suitable by the board.
Exam-Day Tips
Before the Exam
- Admit Card: Download and print the admit card from the RSSB official website. No physical admit cards will be sent.
- ID Proof: Carry a photo ID proof (Aadhar card, voter ID, passport, etc.) along with the admit card.
- Stationery: Bring a blue ballpoint pen, transparent water bottle, and a 2.5x2.5 cm recent photograph (not older than 1 month).
- Dress Code: Follow the RSSB dress code (details available on the official website). Avoid wearing jewelry, watches, or any metallic items.
- Prohibited Items: Do not carry mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, bags, or any electronic gadgets to the exam center.
- Reporting Time: Reach the exam center at least 1 hour before the scheduled time to avoid last-minute rush.
During the Exam

OMR Sheet Instructions:
- Darken only one circle for each question using a blue ballpoint pen.
- For unattempted questions, darken the 'E' option to avoid penalties.
- Ensure no more than 10% of questions are left with no option darkened (1/3 marks deducted per such question).
- More than 10% unattempted questions without the 'E' option darkened will lead to disqualification.

- Allocate 1 minute per question and keep 10 minutes at the end to review and darken unattempted questions.
- Prioritize easier questions first to maximize scoring.

Negative Marking: Avoid random guessing. Attempt questions only if you are 70% sure of the answer.
After the Exam
- OMR Sheet Copy: Retain the carbon copy of the OMR sheet until the final result is declared.
- Answer Key: Check the official answer key on the RSSB website and raise objections (if any) within the stipulated time by paying a fee of ₹100 per objection.
- Physical Test Preparation: Start preparing for the PET immediately after the written exam. Focus on endurance, strength, and speed training.
General Tips
- Syllabus Focus: Prioritize high-weightage topics from the syllabus, especially Rajasthan-specific subjects (history, culture, geography).
- Mock Tests: Take regular mock tests to improve speed, accuracy, and time management.

Important Notes
- Normalization: If the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, normalization will be applied to ensure fairness.
- Disqualification: Candidates found using unfair means will be disqualified and may face legal action under the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2022.
- Reservation: Horizontal reservation applies for women, ex-servicemen, outstanding sportspersons, and persons with disabilities (PwD). However, PwD candidates are not eligible for this recruitment.
- Final Merit List: The final merit list will be prepared based on aggregate marks (written exam + PET + interview).
