RPSC Assistant Director & Senior Scientific Officer Eligibility Criteria 2025-26

The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has released the eligibility criteria for the recruitment of Assistant Director (DNA Division) and Senior Scientific Officer (5 Divisions) under the Rajasthan Forensic Science Service Rules, 1979. RPSC Assistant Director & Senior Scientific Officer: Age Limit
General Age Criteria
- Minimum Age: 21 years as of 01.01.2027
- Maximum Age: 40 years as of 01.01.2027
Note:
- Candidates applying for Post S.No. 1 (Assistant Director) and Post S.No. 8 (Senior Scientific Officer) who exceed the maximum age limit as of 01.01.2027 are eligible for an additional 3-year age relaxation as per service rules, provided these posts were previously advertised in 2021 and 2019, respectively, and no subsequent advertisements were issued.
RPSC Assistant Director & Senior Scientific Officer: Educational Qualification
1. Assistant Director (DNA Division)
- (a) M.Sc. with at least Second Division in one of the following subjects from a recognized university:
- Zoology
- Molecular Biology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Genetics
- OR M.Sc. in Forensic Science with specialization in Forensic Biology/Serology/DNA (minimum 6-month specialization course in III or IV semester) AND one of the following subjects at the Bachelor of Science level:
- Zoology
- Molecular Biology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Genetics
- (b) Certificate/Diploma in Computer Science/Computer Application OR a Degree with Computer Science/Computer Application as a subject OR an ‘O’ level or higher Certificate Course from NIELIT (erstwhile DOEACC Society), New Delhi.
- (c) Three years of working experience in Forensic DNA in a State/Central Government Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) or equivalent experience in a public undertaking/corporation.
2. Senior Scientific Officer (DNA Division)
- (a) M.Sc. with at least First Division in one of the following subjects from a recognized university:
- Zoology
- Molecular Biology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Genetics
- OR M.Sc. in Forensic Science with specialization in Forensic Biology/Serology/DNA (minimum 6-month specialization course in III or IV semester) AND one of the following subjects at the Bachelor of Science level:
- Zoology
- Molecular Biology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Genetics
- (b) Certificate/Diploma in Computer Science/Computer Application OR a Degree with Computer Science/Computer Application as a subject OR an ‘O’ level or higher Certificate Course from NIELIT (erstwhile DOEACC Society), New Delhi.
- (c) Two years of working experience in Forensic DNA in a State/Central Government Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) or equivalent experience in a public undertaking/corporation.
3. Senior Scientific Officer (Serology Division & Biology Division)
- (a) M.Sc. with at least First Division in one of the following subjects from a recognized university:
- Zoology
- Molecular Biology
- Biotechnology
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Genetics
- OR M.Sc. in Forensic Science with specialization in Forensic Biology/Serology (minimum 6-month specialization course in III or IV semester) AND one of the following subjects at the Bachelor of Science level:
- Forensic Biological Science
- Zoology
- Botany
- (b) Certificate/Diploma in Computer Science/Computer Application OR a Degree with Computer Science/Computer Application as a subject OR an ‘O’ level or higher Certificate Course from NIELIT (erstwhile DOEACC Society), New Delhi.
- (c) Two years of working experience in a State/Central Government Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) or equivalent experience in a public undertaking/corporation.
4. Senior Scientific Officer (Narcotics Division & Chemistry Division)
- (a) M.Sc. with at least First Division in Chemistry from a recognized university OR M.Tech./M.E. in Chemical Engineering with at least First Division OR M.Sc. in Forensic Science with specialization in Forensic Chemistry/Toxicology/Narcotics (minimum 6-month specialization course in III or IV semester) AND Chemistry/Forensic Chemistry as a subject at the Bachelor of Science level.
- (b) Certificate/Diploma in Computer Science/Computer Application OR a Degree with Computer Science/Computer Application as a subject OR an ‘O’ level or higher Certificate Course from NIELIT (erstwhile DOEACC Society), New Delhi.
- (c) Two years of working experience in a State/Central Government Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) or equivalent experience in a public undertaking/corporation.
Additional Requirements for All Posts
- Working knowledge of Hindi written in Devnagari Script.
- Knowledge of Rajasthan Culture.
- Experience must be acquired by the last date of online application submission.
RPSC Assistant Director & Senior Scientific Officer: Nationality & Domicile
Nationality
- Candidates must be Indian citizens.
Domicile Requirements
- Reserved category benefits (SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen) are applicable only to Rajasthan state domiciles.
- Non-Rajasthan candidates must apply under the General (Unreserved) category.
- Women from other states who acquire Rajasthan domicile post-marriage are not eligible for SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS benefits and must apply under the General category.
RPSC Assistant Director & Senior Scientific Officer: Age Relaxation

Important Notes on Age Relaxation:
- Non-cumulative: Only one relaxation provision can be availed.
- Additional Relaxation for PwBD: Candidates eligible for both category relaxation and PwBD relaxation will receive both benefits.
- Government Employees: Maximum age limit is 40 years for direct recruitment.
RPSC Assistant Director & Senior Scientific Officer: Other Requirements
1. Experience Certificates
- Candidates must upload experience certificates in the prescribed format (available in the notification) along with the online application.
- Failure to upload experience certificates will result in disqualification.
2. Category Certificates
- SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS certificates must be issued on or before the last date of online application.
- Creamy Layer OBC/MBC candidates must apply under the General category.
- Married women from reserved categories must provide caste certificates issued in their father’s name.
3. Divorcee/Widow Certificates
- Widows must provide a husband’s death certificate.
- Divorcees must provide a court-issued divorce decree (as per Rajasthan High Court judgment in DBSA No. 72/2022).
- No remarriage affidavit must be submitted by the last date of application.
4. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
- 40% or more disability is required for PwBD benefits.
- Scribe facility is available for candidates with:
- Blindness/Low Vision
- Locomotor Disability (Both Arms)
- Cerebral Palsy
- Other disabilities (with certification from Chief Medical & Health Officer/Medical Superintendent).
5. Ex-Servicemen
- 10 years of age relaxation is provided.
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) is required if currently employed in the Armed Forces.
- Re-employment benefits are not applicable if the candidate has already availed them in Rajasthan Government service.
6. Government Employees
- No upper age limit for Rajasthan State Government employees serving in substantive capacity.
- NOC from the current employer is required for Central/State Government employees.
7. Character & Medical Certificates
- Character certificate from the last educational institution (with at least a ‘Good’ rating).
- Police verification certificate (no criminal record).
- Medical fitness certificate from a competent authority.
8. Family Planning Norms
- Candidates with more than two children born on or after 01.06.2002 are ineligible for appointment.
- Exceptions:
- Twins or multiple births count as one unit.
- Disabled children are not counted.
- Widows/Divorcees are exempted from this rule.
9. Application Process
- Separate applications must be submitted for each post.
- One-Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory via the RPSC website or SSO Portal.
- Application Fee:
- General/OBC (Creamy Layer)/MBC (Creamy Layer): ₹600
- Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/MBC-NCL/EWS/Sahariya Tribe): ₹400
- PwBD Candidates: ₹400
10. Important Dates
- Application Start Date: 29.12.2025
- Application End Date: 27.01.2026 (12:00 AM)
