Overview

The Rajasthan Subordinate and Ministerial Services Selection Board (RSMSSB) conducts the Junior Engineer (Agriculture) direct recruitment exam for the Agriculture Department under the Watershed Development and Soil Conservation Department. This exam is held under the Rajasthan Agricultural Subordinate Service Rules, 1978, as amended, and the Rajasthan Scheduled Areas Subordinate, Ministerial, and Class IV Service (Recruitment and Other Service Conditions) Rules, 2014. A total of 165 posts are available, with 150 posts for the non-scheduled areas and 15 posts for the scheduled areas.

How to Apply for RSMSSB Junior Engineer (Agriculture) Exam

Step-by-Step Application Process:

1. One-Time Registration (OTR):

   • Visit the RSMSSB official portal: http://rsmssb.rajasthan.gov.in or the SSO portal: http://sso.rajasthan.gov.in.
   • Click on the Recruitment Advertisement and select the Apply Online link.
   • If you haven’t completed the One-Time Registration (OTR), fill in your category (Unreserved/EWS/OBC-NC/MBC-NC/SC/ST/SAH), disability status, and domicile details.
   • Pay the OTR registration fee as applicable to your category.

2. Fill the Online Application Form:

   • Log in using your SSO ID and select the Recruitment Portal under Citizen Apps (G2C).
   • Click on Apply Now and fill in all required details, including personal information, educational qualifications, and visible identification marks.
   • Upload a recent passport-sized photograph (not older than 1 month) and your signature as per the specified guidelines.

3. Verification Process:

   • Aadhaar-Based Verification: If you used Aadhaar for OTR, no further verification is required. Otherwise, verify your details using one of the following methods:
     • Original Certificate Option: Enter the certificate number and fetch details from domicile/bonafide certificates.
     • DigiLocker Option: Verify using your 10th-grade marksheet details.
     • Biometric Verification: If unable to verify online, you must undergo biometric verification at the exam center 1.5 hours before the exam.

4. Payment of Application Fees:

   • Pay the application fee through net banking, ATM cum debit card, or credit card via the designated e-Mitra kiosks or CSC centers.
   • Fee Structure:
     • General Category & Creamy Layer OBC/MBC: ₹600
     • Non-Creamy Layer OBC/MBC, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD Candidates (Rajasthan Domicile): ₹400
     • Note: Candidates from other states applying under reserved categories will be treated as General Category and must pay ₹600.

5. Submit the Application:

   • Review all entered details carefully before final submission.
   • After submission, an application ID will be generated. Save and print the application form for future reference.

6. Correction Window:

   • Candidates can make corrections in their application form within 7 days after the last date of submission by paying a correction fee of ₹300.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering from a university established by law in India.
• Knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and knowledge of Rajasthan’s culture.
• Candidates appearing for the final year of their degree can apply but must provide proof of qualification before the exam date.

Age Limit (as of 1 January 2025):

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 40 years

Nationality:

• Must be a citizen of India, or
• A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
• A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement, or
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

Note: Candidates falling under categories (b), (c), or (d) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Exam Pattern:

• Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)/Tablet-Based Test (TBT)/Offline (OMR)
• Duration: 3 Hours
• Total Marks: 300
• Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer
• Sections:
  • Part A: Agricultural Engineering (Graduation Level)
  • Part B: General Knowledge (with special reference to Rajasthan’s history, culture, traditions, and geography)

Syllabus:

Part A: Agricultural Engineering

1. Soil and Water Conservation:

   • Precipitation, hydrologic cycle, runoff measurement, erosion types, water erosion control measures, watershed management.

2. Irrigation:

   • Soil-water-plant relationship, irrigation scheduling, water conveyance and control, drainage systems.

3. Farm Power and Machinery:

   • Primary and secondary tillage machinery, sowing and intercultural machinery, grain harvesting and threshing machinery, tractors.

4. Agricultural Processing:

   • Mass and energy balance, size reduction, material handling, drying principles, food preservation, rice and pulse milling.

5. Renewable Energy Sources:

   • Solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, bio-energy, biogas plants, wind energy, and their potential in Rajasthan.

Part B: General Knowledge (Rajasthan Focus)

• History, culture, traditions, and geography of Rajasthan.

Note:

• Candidates from scheduled areas can apply for both scheduled and non-scheduled area posts. However, they must choose their preference during document verification.
• Only local residents of Rajasthan’s scheduled areas can apply for scheduled area posts.
