In the Mansabdari system, Akbar provided Mansabs to both military officers and civil officers. Mansabdars were classified based on their Zat and Sawar ranks, and this also included high-ranking officials.

This is the first building made entirely of marble. Apart from marble, 'Pietra dura' was used here for decoration for the first time.

There were two types of farmers in the Mughal period - Khud-kasht and Pahikasht. Khudkasht farmers lived in the same villages where they owned land. Pahikasht were those farmers who came to cultivate on contract in other villages (landless/outside farmers).
